Wandrd PRVKE Lite Review

My first ever camera bag was one of the original Wandrd PRVKE bags which I bought in around 2018 I think. I loved that bag so much - I used it as my everyday carry, my photography bag, I'd take it travelling, and everything in-between. But, I fell sucker to the influence of YouTubers. I thought that I just HAD to get a Peak Design bag, even though I was very happy with my Wandrd. So, I bought one and ended up selling my PRVKE. Was I happy with my decision? Not entirely. Although I had the bag I wanted, I realised there were parts of the PRVKE that I really missed, like the ability to expand its capacity via a roll top, and also I missed the overall materials and aesthetic that the PRVKE had.

A few years later, I ended up doing a small partnership/collaboration with Nomatic for their Nomatic x Peter McKinnon photography bags (which, in my opinion, are VERY pricey). So, I sold my Peak Design bag. Initially I liked this bag, it fit a lot in it and it felt well made. It always stood upright when I put it down which was great, however it felt pretty rigid. It stayed the same shape regardless if it was empty or full (which just took up space in my opinion), and the lack of side access for my camera felt like an oversight.

And now, after 6-7 years from my first purchase of a Wandrd PRVKE, I am now back to where I began, with my own Wandrd PRVKE Lite. I opted for the Lite as I like the idea of something a bit more compact and slim, especially for when it comes to carrying it around all day or taking it on a flight etc. Granted that smaller/thinner = less space for gear, but I like the fact that it makes me think critically about what I will and will not need. Despite that, I can still easily fit into the camera cube my Sony A7C II (review here), Tamron 28-75mm f2.8, Sony 70-200mm f2.8 GM, and Samyang 24mm f1.8 (review here). And in the roll top I can fit a drone or speedlight if I wanted to (plus there are extra pockets for batteries, memory cards/filter, phone, wallet, and water bottle.

Here are some side-by-sides of how it compares in regards to size (and aesthetics) to the Nomatic x Peter McKinnon backpack:

As you can see, it's quite a bit more compact than the Nomatic, and you can probably also see that the bag has so much more character than the Nomatic (in my opinion). Although it's smaller, look at how it still has more than enough space to fit gear for a photoshoot, or to just take around while travelling. This is just the camera cube section - the upper part of the bag that connects to the rolltop can also be packed full of other bits and pieces you need, while also having enough room in the laptop compartment for my 13 inch Macbook Pro.

I am so glad to have a Wandrd PRVKE again and really look forward to taking it on some upcoming trips. If you would like to pick one up for yourself, click the button below.
