Plaud NotePin Review

plaud notepin

Introduction

So when I first came across the Plaud NotePin, I was instantly drawn to the form factor and how it could be worn (the images I first saw were showing how it can use magnets to pin on to your clothing. To me, it looked high tech, yet elegant, and I had to find out more.

It looked like it was being marketed as a virtual assistant, note taker, and second brain that makes juggling a busy life full of meetings a whole lot easier - but how well does it actually work?

Plaud NotePin Design and Features

The Plaud NotePin boasts a compact capsule design that is easy to carry. With dimensions of 51 x 21 x 11 mm and weighing just 25 grams, it can attach magnetically to a range of accessories that Plaud offers, but my favourite is the standard magnetic back that allows you to place it anywhere on your clothing.

The device is equipped with dual microphones, ensuring it captures audio clearly even in moderately loud environments. The battery life is impressive, offering up to 40 days on standby or 20 hours of continuous recording to its 64gb of internal storage. Additionally, the Plaud NotePin allows for file transfers via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, accommodating different recording sizes efficiently.

This seems to be the perfect device to capture notes while ensuring you remain present in whichever activity you are doing. As a freelance photographer, I plan on using this during client meetings to make sure everything is captured to make sure I don't miss out on anything that the client said. On top of that, I have been thinking of doing some professional development certifications and having something like this that can summarise lessons and take notes will significantly assist in helping me to study and learn all the key concepts I need to learn.

The Plaud NotePin allows users to generate transcripts, summaries, or even generate mind maps from their recordings. Although it comes with a limit of 300 minutes of transcription per month on the free plan, there is an opportunity to upgrade for more extensive use.

Real World Test

As a photographer, I often am on calls with clients discussing their ideas and trying to organise photoshoots for them. I simply wore it on my shirt and had my phone on speaker so that my NotePin could hear it. After the call was done, I selected the recording and chose what mode I wanted to apply to the output. Within seconds, it processed not only the summary, but also the entire transcription of the meeting...I was very impressed! You can see some screenshots below of the output:

This allowed me to stay completely present during my meeting, and know that all the important bits of information were going to be captured automatically.

Pricing and Availability

The Plaud NotePin is currently available for $169USD, which includes an accessory kit, unlimited cloud storage, and a bunch of AI features. While it may not suit everyone, those who frequently engage in meetings or complex conversations will find its utility invaluable.

Conclusion

In essence, the Plaud NotePin is not just another AI gadget; it serves a specific purpose. For anyone juggling multiple commitments, investing in this device could prove to be a game-changer in managing and recalling vital information. Whether for personal use or professional enhancement, the Plaud NotePin is a compelling option for those seeking to streamline their day-to-day interactions and retain important conversations.
