Best Photography Studios in Canberra

When it comes to finding and choosing the best photography studio in Canberra, it can be hard to pick one out of the small handful that are available. The good news is, they are all relatively close in price!

Lonsdale St Studio

Sitting on one of the most popular streets in Canberra, Lonsdale St Studio boasts 3 kitted out studios for all your content creation needs. The spaces are equipped with all the lighting, sound-proofing and professional-grade video and audio production kits that you may need for any project – plus there is also a Green Room!

I recently did a photoshoot here and it was such a great experience - the team are super lovely and even help setup your lighting for your shoot (including properly lighting the backdrop which was a huge plus). In addition, the quality of the lighting was amazing (high-end brands) and the backdrops were made of a felt-like material which made it easy to avoid creases.

HQ ThirtyFour

Not so much a photography studio, rather a photography and content creation location. Advertised as a Blank Canvas Venue, HQ ThirtyFour is a beautifully restored timber warehouse based in Fyshwick. All you need is your imagination to turn this place into the perfect location for your next photoshoot or event.

I shot an event here for a Bungee Fitness company and it is SO beautiful!

KeepCo

Sitting within the beautiful co-working space by the same name in Fyshwick, KeepCo has a hireable 6m x 6m photography studio that has lovely natural light. And to top it off, once your photoshoot is over you can walk across  to Capital Brewing!

I haven’t personally done a shoot here yet, however I have seen the co-working space before and it certainly looks like the photos you see online.

FT Studio

Situated on the outskirts of Canberra, FT Studio is a large warehouse-style space with very tall ceilings and wide access for things like cars/trucks to be driven into the studio. Personally, I find it isn’t the best for fashion/portraits/e-commerce style shoots - but it definitely allows businesses to utilise the space in a completely different way to other studios.

This was the first studio I did a photoshoot at in Canberra as it fell into the budget of my client. Honestly, it was not ideal for an e-commerce shoot as the backdrop was paper-like which showed creases easily, and also the lighting was very subpar to what I was expecting.

Perfect for:

  • Shoots involving large pieces of equipment, vehicles, or machinery

  • Industrial-style shoots

Features:

  • 126sqm studio space

  • 6.1m ceilings

  • 3.6m wide roller door

  • Kitchenette

  • Lighting (when I went there the strongest light was a Godox SL60W which felt quite underpowered in my opinion)

Pricing:

  • Business hours: $110/h (minimum 2 hours)

  • After hours: $150/h (minimum 2 hours)

  • Half day (business hours): $350

  • Half day (after hours): $550

  • Full day (business hours): $600

  • Full day (after hours): $950
